The German Turkish Forum Stuttgart at the HFM Summer Festival!

The SiNEMA concept aims to open new horizons for the audience in relation to social, cultural and political developments.

The concept of SiNEMA by the German Turkish Forum Stuttgart builds on the presentation of film productions from Turkey and Germany, which open up new horizons for the audience through their individual artistic interpretations of social, cultural and political developments.

A day in the near future: A power outage puts life in Istanbul to a halt. While wealthy Istanbulites emulate a Western lifestyle in the elegant stagnant neighborhoods, "Ghosts" tells us about the daily struggle for survival in the neighborhoods characterized by ramshackle buildings on the outskirts of the megalopolis, where the deceptive schemes of the public administration are serving to further the gentrification of the city.

In her debut film "Ghosts" (original title "Hayaletler"), director Azra Deniz Okyay addresses many aspects of life in modern Turkey, from dealing with refugees, to misogynistic structures, to the fight against corruption and abuse of power.

Look forward to a captivating movie trip to one of the largest cities of the world.

Please note that photographs and film recordings might be taken during the event for public relations purposes.

Kindly supported by the City of Stuttgart.
